Speed Kills 7, including NEW The King Is Blind track, release / preorder details confirmed

speed-kills-front-cover

Legendary metal compilation series Speed Kills has been resurrected by seminal record label Music For Nations, and The King Is Blind are delighted to confirm they have contributed a track for the release.

Written specifically for, and with the heritage of the compilation in mind, ‘Throne of Skulls’ is a brand new track, exclusively available to Speed Kills 7, which is released on digital and vinyl on 2nd December 2016.

With the first edition of Speed Kills featuring Metallica, Slayer, Venom, Celtic Frost and Megadeth, and subsequent issues showcasing the mercurial talents of Bathory, Helloween, Anthrax and Death amongst many other thrash, death and HEAVY metal bands, The King Is Blind join a celebrated cast, past and present as this current volume showcases the best of British underground talent, including former TKIB tour partners Akercocke and Voices.

Guitarist Lee Appleton was in bullish mood:

“This savage joint demonstrates the wimp-crushing style we will deliver on our soon-to-be-recorded second album.”

while vocalist Steve Tovey waxed lyrical:

“Speed Kills is a celebrated and historic compilation series, a thing of actual and genuine legend, and it is a significant moment for us to not only be asked to contribute a track, but to kick matters off, sitting proudly as Side 1, track 1! MFN was such a huge label for us growing up, and many of our favourite bands throughout our teens released great albums on Music For Nations and it’s a humbling moment to sit amongst some of our absolute heroes.

In terms of concept, the song acts as a bridge from our first album (Our Father) and our second, linking the stories of the two, and bringing matters crashing through the firmament, and studded fistedly, out of the biblical into modern times.”

Speed Kills 7 is available to pre-order here.

The full tracklisting for Speed Kills 7 is:

1. The King is Blind – Throne of Skulls
2. Formicarius – Lake of the Dead
3. Acid Reign – Plan of the Damned
4. Amulet – Highwayman (demo version)
5. Divine Chaos – Ignorance Everlasting
6. Akercocke – Inner Sanctum
7. Dungeon – Death From Above

The King Is Blind confirmed as Special Guests on Akercocke UK tour

Monolithic Metallers, The King Is Blind are delighted to announce they will be joining the upcoming Akercocke UK tour as Special Guests for the English dates.

Rennaisance in Extremis

Bulldozing the way for a new generation of Extreme Music, East Anglia’s THE KING IS BLIND today confirm their support to progressive Blackened Death Metal heavyweights AKERCOCKE on their hotly anticipated return in October. The ‘Renaissance in Extremis Tour 2016’ will land at London, Southampton, Bristol, Sheffield, and Manchester, and will showcase two pummeling forces in British Extreme Metal.

“The return of Akercocke has made everyone that is interested in HEAVY music, including us, ravenous to witness their rebirth into the live arena. We are honoured to share in their resurrection, joining the bill for their first British tour in years. A band famed for their diversity and twisted, challenging and vigorous music – an ethos we wholeheartedly embrace. We can’t wait to bludgeon their acolytes til they become believers of The King Is Blind, when we appropriate and convert the disciples of the church of Akercocke.

“Having conquered Download, and growing our own reputation for being a powerful live entity in our own right, we were looking for the perfect opportunity to take ‘Our Father’ to the country, and this chance to align with a genuine beast and legend of British metal heritage is one that could not be passed up.

“Be prepared for an evening of multi-faceted, aphotic, aggressive metal music where we will be unrelenting in our outpouring of the heaviest, most brutish music. We feel this is a fucking exciting lineup that will satisfy the blackest of souls” Steve Tovey, Vocals

Tour Dates: 13th August – Bloodstock, Derby (UK); 30th September – Underworld, London (UK); 1st October – Engine Rooms, Southampton (UK); 2nd October – The Fleece, Bristol (UK); 7th October – Corporation, Sheffield (UK); 9th October – Club Academy, Manchester (UK)

Tickets are available direct from the venues, via See Tickets and other ticket retailers

Please note, The King Is Blind will unfortunately not be performing at Dublin, Jersey and Damnation Festival shows.

In addition, THE KING IS BLIND recently unveiled the unrelenting new video FRAGILITY BECOMES WRATH.

The track is taken from their colossal debut album OUR FATHER (KKKK – Kerrang!, 8/10 – Metal Hammer) which features in Metal Hammer’s ‘Top 20 Albums of 2016 So Far’.

Fresh from a bludgeoning performance at Download Festival, THE KING IS BLIND now have their sights on demolishing Bloodstock in August, landing on the Sophie Lancaster Stage on the Saturday. This will be their second performance at the festival having played in 2014.
