Speed Kills 7, including NEW The King Is Blind track, release / preorder details confirmed

speed-kills-front-cover

Legendary metal compilation series Speed Kills has been resurrected by seminal record label Music For Nations, and The King Is Blind are delighted to confirm they have contributed a track for the release.

Written specifically for, and with the heritage of the compilation in mind, ‘Throne of Skulls’ is a brand new track, exclusively available to Speed Kills 7, which is released on digital and vinyl on 2nd December 2016.

With the first edition of Speed Kills featuring Metallica, Slayer, Venom, Celtic Frost and Megadeth, and subsequent issues showcasing the mercurial talents of Bathory, Helloween, Anthrax and Death amongst many other thrash, death and HEAVY metal bands, The King Is Blind join a celebrated cast, past and present as this current volume showcases the best of British underground talent, including former TKIB tour partners Akercocke and Voices.

Guitarist Lee Appleton was in bullish mood:

“This savage joint demonstrates the wimp-crushing style we will deliver on our soon-to-be-recorded second album.”

while vocalist Steve Tovey waxed lyrical:

“Speed Kills is a celebrated and historic compilation series, a thing of actual and genuine legend, and it is a significant moment for us to not only be asked to contribute a track, but to kick matters off, sitting proudly as Side 1, track 1! MFN was such a huge label for us growing up, and many of our favourite bands throughout our teens released great albums on Music For Nations and it’s a humbling moment to sit amongst some of our absolute heroes.

In terms of concept, the song acts as a bridge from our first album (Our Father) and our second, linking the stories of the two, and bringing matters crashing through the firmament, and studded fistedly, out of the biblical into modern times.”

Speed Kills 7 is available to pre-order here.

The full tracklisting for Speed Kills 7 is:

1. The King is Blind – Throne of Skulls
2. Formicarius – Lake of the Dead
3. Acid Reign – Plan of the Damned
4. Amulet – Highwayman (demo version)
5. Divine Chaos – Ignorance Everlasting
6. Akercocke – Inner Sanctum
7. Dungeon – Death From Above
8. Voices – Petrograph

The King Is Blind confirmed as Special Guests on Akercocke UK tour

Monolithic Metallers, The King Is Blind are delighted to announce they will be joining the upcoming Akercocke UK tour as Special Guests for the English dates.

Rennaisance in Extremis

Bulldozing the way for a new generation of Extreme Music, East Anglia’s THE KING IS BLIND today confirm their support to progressive Blackened Death Metal heavyweights AKERCOCKE on their hotly anticipated return in October. The ‘Renaissance in Extremis Tour 2016’ will land at London, Southampton, Bristol, Sheffield, and Manchester, and will showcase two pummeling forces in British Extreme Metal.

“The return of Akercocke has made everyone that is interested in HEAVY music, including us, ravenous to witness their rebirth into the live arena. We are honoured to share in their resurrection, joining the bill for their first British tour in years. A band famed for their diversity and twisted, challenging and vigorous music – an ethos we wholeheartedly embrace. We can’t wait to bludgeon their acolytes til they become believers of The King Is Blind, when we appropriate and convert the disciples of the church of Akercocke.

“Having conquered Download, and growing our own reputation for being a powerful live entity in our own right, we were looking for the perfect opportunity to take ‘Our Father’ to the country, and this chance to align with a genuine beast and legend of British metal heritage is one that could not be passed up.

“Be prepared for an evening of multi-faceted, aphotic, aggressive metal music where we will be unrelenting in our outpouring of the heaviest, most brutish music. We feel this is a fucking exciting lineup that will satisfy the blackest of souls” Steve Tovey, Vocals

Tour Dates: 13th August – Bloodstock, Derby (UK); 30th September – Underworld, London (UK); 1st October – Engine Rooms, Southampton (UK); 2nd October – The Fleece, Bristol (UK); 7th October – Corporation, Sheffield (UK); 9th October – Club Academy, Manchester (UK)

The King Is Blind confirmed for Download 2016

Download annoucement

Following a raft of striking reviews for their debut full-length Our Father, and a victorious live unleashing of the album, in full, at The Black Heart, Camden, Monolithic Metallers The King Is Blind have been confirmed to play Download Festival on Sunday 12th June 2016 where they will smash the skulls of the throngs assembled at the third stage.

Guitarist Lee James Appleton was delighted to pronounce:

“Our hearts are filled with pride. To be asked to perform at this year’s Download Festival alongside the most venerable names on Planet Rock (Ladies & Gentlemen, I give you Iron Maiden..) is far beyond ‘an honour’. We make a solemn vow here and now to bring our unique brand of Monolithic Heavy Metal to the assembled (black) masses with our usual fervour… and then some!! We will, of course, be playing plenty of tracks from the debut album ‘Our Father’ as well as one or two surprises! Thank you to all those towering individuals who have worked so hard behind the scenes for us to make the dream a reality.”

“Listening to TKIB was like stepping back into the halcyon days of the death metal scene. When the opportunity arose to relaunch Cacophonous they were the first band I thought of in terms of a release; they’re angry, visceral and brutal, everything you’d want in a death metal band” – Neil Harding, Cacophonous Label Head

The groove of old school Death Metal, yet appreciative of newer styles with deliciously doomy riffs for good measure” Terrorizer Magazine

“Bludgeoning riff-fests packed with deathly ferocity and doomy threat” KERRANG!

TKIB-2

East Anglia’s monolithic metallers THE KING IS BLIND have been summoned to carry the torch for a new generation of extreme music. Emerging from the deepest black as the first signing in over a decade from the resurrected, genre-defying coven that is CACOPHONOUS RECORDS, today sees the band announce their monstrously ambitious debut full-length album OUR FATHER for release 29th January.

OUR FATHER Tracklisting:

I Genesis Refracted, II Fragility Becomes Wrath, III Mors Somnis, IV Bloodlet Ascension, V Mourning Light, VI Amen, VII …For All The Daemons Are Here VIII Venin IX Devoured X Mesmeric Furnace

A dark and involved concept album, OUR FATHER follows 2014’s THE DEFICIENCIES OF MAN EP (KKKK – Kerrang!). The record houses the familiar story of Satan, with a narrative focus going beyond what has previously been covered in literature and music to date. Working with interpretations of the Bible, and John Milton’s 17th Century epics Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, the album depicts Satan as the first son and creation of God – with a focus on their close relationship over millennia. Satan conceives the idea of ‘Man’ (Adam) as a gift to God out of praise and love. God is immediately enraptured, loving Man unconditionally and going so far as to create a companion (Eve) for him. God becomes so transfixed by Man that he creates a further being, Christ, to be his representative on Earth. All this time, Satan remains overlooked, replaced by his gift to God, and his jealously and rage causes Sin to be born –  and so the story of ‘Our Father’ begins…

We agreed early on that not only would anything we worked on have to be of the highest quality musically, it would also need to have depth. ‘Our Father’  isn’t simply about Satan vs God, or taking sides – it had to translate to give meaning to people. Highlighting inherent hypocrisies; how God is forgiveness but is also the deadly sin “Wrath” as he goes so far to wipe out mankind in the Bible on two occasions. Satan is also wracked with inconsistencies in his thoughts and choices. This concept transcends to be applicable to society, modern global and national politics, religion in general – not just Catholicism; oppressive states, bullying; it covers it all, all the way through to daily life.

Let’s be clear. It is not anti-Christian. It is not anti-religion. It is definitely not anti-faith. ‘Our Father’ is against how people use religion as a banner and a mask to commit atrocities. We are pro-equality and pro-diversity, we stand against oppression and division. This album is a release of frustration towards the things that are too big for us, individually, to change.” – Stephen John Tovey, Vocals

The first single from Our Father is Fragility Becomes Wrath, which premiered on BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, followed by an exclusive stream with Metal Hammer.

THE KING IS BLIND boast an impressive heritage, with members drawing from a wealth of experience in CRADLE OF FILTH, NEW MODEL ARMY, EXTREME NOISE TERROR and ENTWINED. Fresh from a bludgeoning performance at last weekend’s Damnation Festival, and their recent UK run with Winterfylleth, the band hold an impressive set of notches on the touring post, including Temples, HammerFest and Bloodstock festivals, alongside support to Fen. The band are pencilling in further dates for early 2016 which will be announced soon.

Armed with a relentlessly brutal masterpiece, OUR FATHER is set to mark THE KING IS BLIND as the obelisk for the UK on the extreme music map.

OUR FATHER is released via Cacophonous Records on 29 January 2016
